Use Employee Wellness Programs to Focus on Improving Wellbeing

Working towards better workplace wellbeing doesn’t have to be a hugely costly operation. Sickness and health issues can cost businesses thousands a year. Thankfully, it is possible to cut this loss with just a little investment.

Helping your staff improve their wellbeing can lower business costs, and increase profits. When employees feel good in the workplace, well rested and aren’t over worked or stressed, they are more productive, creating better success for the business.

Many of us spend a third of our day at work. Consequently, the workplace is a brilliant place to introduce improving wellbeing. Employees can be encouraged to be healthy in both mind and body at work. As a result, employees will benefit personally and the business will benefit too.

Issues with wellbeing are increasing. According to the NHS obesity rates have quadrupled over the last 25 years. NICS also reported that 1 in 5 people suffer from an illness, disability, physical or mental problem that isn’t supported by their workplace. Some people’s conditions are actually made worse by their job.

In working to increase employee wellbeing you can:

How to Improve Workplace Wellbeing

There are a variety of ways in which you can improve employee wellbeing. You don’t need a huge budget or a big team to implement the changes.

Encouraging physical exercise can have a positive impact on both physical and mental wellbeing. Just half an hour of exercise a day can increase energy levels, improve mood, focus and confidence. There are a variety of ways to encourage your employees to take more exercise. From offering a gym membership benefit or arranging a sports day, to setting up a running club and offering yoga workshops during working hours – the list is endless!

Similarly, diet is key. You can offer a variety of incentives to encourage staff to eat well, or even provide a selection of fresh fruit daily.
