MINDFULNESS FOR
HEALTH AND DAILY LIFE

Mindfulness for health and everyday life – is this something you have ever considered? For many, becoming more mindful is appealing, but it can be tricky to know where to start. Mindfulness shouldn’t be, and isn’t, complicated. In fact the idea behind becoming more mindful focuses on creating a more simple life, but with purpose and meaning.

Just a few simple changes can bring mindfulness into your everyday life, read on to discover how to achieve this.

Mindfulness Explained

Mindfulness is described as paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment without judgement. Achieving complete mindfulness requires retraining your brain completely, as we do so much without knowing why or even noticing.

Becoming more mindful can help you live with more purpose. It can help you become conscious of the decisions that you make to improve your lifestyle. This can be anything from what you eat and how you spend your time,or how you deal with the emotions you are feeling. Mindfulness is about becoming more aware of your thoughts and actions. This can help you lead a happier and more fulfilling life.

Mindfulness for Health and Everyday Life – How To

To achieve mindfulness can take a lot of commitment. Becoming more mindful, however, can be done through changing your everyday routine, just a little. Here are a few things that you can do everyday to start your journey to becoming more mindful…

1. Take a walk

Our 21stCentury lifestyles mean that we are constantly distracted, yet always switched on. Take time every day to get out in the fresh air and clear your mind. Or just to allow some time to focus on the thoughts rushing through your head and work out what they mean. Going for a walk is a great way to clear the mind – try to take half an hour out to walk each day.

2. Becoming more conscious of your actions

A lot of what we do is because of habit, but many of our daily habits can be harmful. Set yourself a day to consciously be more aware of what you are doing. It will be difficult to be conscious of your actions throughout the day to start with, but over time it will become a habit in itself. This will allow you to analyse potentially harmful behaviours, such as over eating, and work to correct this.

3. Pay attention to your breathing

Breathing is another thing that happens on autopilot. The breath is linked to your mental state. When you start paying attention to your breathing, at times you may notice you are hardly breathing at all, or you are breathing too quickly. Mindfulness for health can be becoming more conscious of your breath and working towards calming and deep breathing.

4. Focus on one task at a time

Multitasking is bad for focus – take a look at our blog on this. With so much to do, many of us try and do more than one thing at once to save time. In becoming more mindful, you should try and give one task your full attention. It’s likely you will find this more effective for of time management. When you focus on one thing at a time you can give your all to it and achieve your goal quickly.

Becoming more mindful can help you both in your personal and work life, and it could be your lack of awareness or harmful habits that are stopping you from achieving your goals. Set a day and a few tasks to start becoming more mindful, and go from there.
