What is Face Yoga?

Did you know we have 57 muscles in our face and neck? Just as our body needs regular exercise to stay toned and firm, the muscles in the face and neck also benefit from exercise. As they become stronger they are lifted and firmed, and the skin attached to the muscles is also lifted and tightened, reducing lines and wrinkles.

Face yoga is a natural way of looking and feeling heathier and younger with an added sense of relaxation and wellbeing. It combines face exercises, facial massage, face acupressure and face relaxation along with wellbeing techniques for mind, body and soul.

Face yoga helps us to become aware of patterns of tension we hold in our faces, frowning, squinting, jaw tensing, which lead over time to expression lines. Through exercising the facial muscles we learn to release and let go of these while also toning and strengthening the underlying muscles.

Massage helps to increase circulation, lymph flow and removal of waste products, improving skin tone and reducing puffiness and dark circles as well as boosting elastin and collagen, which give skin its plumpness and elasticity.

Acupressure increases the flow of subtle energy in the face, reducing tension, increasing circulation and giving skin a healthy glow. Acupressure points are also said to aid with reduction of symptoms such as headaches, eye strain, sinusitis and rhinitis.

Face yoga is easy to do, fun, and beneficial for both physical and mental health. The exercises can be done seated and if practised regularly enable us to look and feel younger, healthier and more radiant.  Why not give it a go!
